Diageo Reportedly In Talks To Offload Trio Of Brands, Including Pimm’s

23 February 2024, Food Bev

Diageo aims to boost profits & shareholder value by selling three brands 🍸. The trio includes Pimm’s, Safari, and Pampero Rum. Rothschild is on board for the sale, with options to sell individually or as a package. Diageo, owner of Guinness and Baileys, stayed mum on the matter. Pimm’s, a summer favorite, dates back to 1840. Diageo's facing challenges, shares dropped 17% in a year, plus CEO Ivan Menezes passed away. Slow sales in Latin America and the Caribbean prompted a profit warning. Earlier, Diageo dealt with a racism accusation from rapper Diddy, now settled. Despite hurdles, Diageo unveils new cocktails & innovations. Investments include greening glass production, water preservation in tequila-making, and a partnership for digital product development. 🚀

The company, which owns popular brands like International Delight (creamer), Oikos (yogurt), and Silk (creamer), has implemented strategic initiatives to revitalize its operations and product offerings. Lefties: Zara's Secret Weapon In Fast-Fashion Fight Against Shein

22 February 2024, Reuters

Inditex, the parent company of Zara, is ramping up its low-priced brand Lefties to combat competition from Shein, a Chinese-founded rival. Lefties, offering budget-friendly fashion items like 17.99-euro jeans and 7.99-euro dresses, is expanding globally to meet the demand for affordable clothing. Despite Zara's focus on higher-priced items, Inditex recognizes the need to cater to value-conscious shoppers. Lefties' growth in emerging markets like Spain and Portugal signifies its appeal to consumers seeking affordable options. While Shein dominates the fast-fashion market, Lefties is carving out its niche with a strong online presence and strategic expansion. With Inditex keeping Lefties' performance private, the competition intensifies, but the brand's potential for success remains promising. 🛍️💼
