Topspin Consumer Partners Invests In Leading Sweat Control Brand Carpe

20 August  2024, Businesswire

Topspin Consumer Partners, a private equity firm known for its hands-on approach in the consumer sector, has announced its investment in Carpe, a trailblazing brand specializing in sweat control solutions. Financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.

Topspin is teaming up with Carpe’s founders, David Spratte and Kasper Kubica, who will continue leading the company. Founded in 2015 in Durham, NC, Carpe started as a niche solution for excessively sweaty hands—a problem the founders personally experienced—and has since expanded into a full line of dermatologist-tested products for the entire body. Carpe’s offerings include underarm antiperspirants, anti-sweat cosmetics, and sweat-absorbing products for areas like the thighs, groin, and scalp. The brand’s success stems from its effective, proprietary formulas and strong customer relationships.

David Spratte expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, citing Topspin’s proven ability to scale personal care brands and drive growth.

Great Many Reveals $3.6 Million Pre-seed, Telehealth Arm and Product Line

21 August  2024, WWD

Great Many is making waves in the hair care industry 🌟. On Wednesday, the clinic and platform announced a $3.6 million pre-seed round, unveiling its line of growth-focused hair care products and a telehealth platform. The funding, led by Brand Project and supported by Midnight Venture Partners and Tonic Ventures, exceeded its target by $600,000. Angel investors include notable founders like Lukas Keindl of BondVet and Elizabeth Cutler of SoulCycle.

Founded by Michael Pollak and Steve Klebanow, Great Many opened its flagship studio in NoHo, New York City, offering comprehensive hair growth services rooted in scalp health. Recognizing the growing trend of scalp care, they aim to revolutionize hair care with a personalized approach, combining consultations, PRP treatments, and gender-neutral messaging. Great Many has ambitious plans to expand nationwide, bringing their innovative approach to key cities across the U.S. ✨

Vintage Wine Estates ‘gets green light to sell brands to Foley Family Wines’

21 August  2024, Just Drinks

Vintage Wine Estates has received court approval to sell five of its wine brands—Bar Dog, Cherry Pie, Swanson, Cosentino, and SCV—to Foley Family Wines for $15 million. This move follows the California-based company's bankruptcy filing in July, where it struggled with $60.5 million in debt. US Bankruptcy Judge Mary Walrath approved the sale, noting that Foley Family Wines' offer was a stalking horse bid, meaning higher offers can still be considered. If any competing bids emerge, an auction will be held in September.

In a separate deal, Vintage Wine Estates recently sold its Cosentino Winery and equipment to Gene Wines for $10.5 million. Additionally, the company sold some assets related to its Ace Cider brand for $3.6 million to Playa Capital Partners LLC. Heather Lennox, a representative from Jones Day, mentioned that more sales are expected soon, with buyers secured for most of the company's major assets.

Despite generating $141.3 million in revenue in the last six months of 2023, Vintage Wine Estates has faced significant financial challenges, reporting a net loss of $64.4 million during this period. This is an improvement from the $127.6 million loss recorded in the previous year. The company has said it plans to sell "all or substantially all" of its assets, with multiple preliminary indications of interest already received from potential buyers. In its last full financial year ending June 2023, Vintage Wine Estates reported a staggering $189 million in losses on $189.4 million in revenue. 🍇🍷

Saco Foods Announces Acquisition of Ancient Harvest and Pamela's

21 August  2024, PR Newswire

Saco Foods, a leading niche market food company, has successfully acquired Quinoa Corporation, the owner of renowned brands Ancient Harvest and Pamela's. This acquisition, supported by Fengate Private Equity and Weathervane Investment Corp., marks a significant expansion for Saco Foods, adding two top-tier brands to its portfolio. Founded in 1983, Ancient Harvest pioneered quinoa sales in the U.S. and remains a leader in plant-based, gluten-free products. Pamela's, established in 1988 and acquired by Quinoa Corporation in 2019, is a top brand in gluten-free baking mixes and snacks.

"We're thrilled to welcome Ancient Harvest and Pamela's to our brand family," said Tom Walzer, CEO of Saco Foods. "These brands perfectly align with our commitment to high-quality food products and will help drive organic growth." John Becker, now President of Ancient Harvest and Pamela's, added, "Joining Saco is a natural fit, offering exciting opportunities for brand revitalization and expansion." 🌱🍞

Moët Hennessy and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter Launch Groundbreaking New Whisky - SirDavis

20 August  2024, PR Newswire

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has teamed up with Moët Hennessy, an LVMH subsidiary, to create SirDavis, a revolutionary new whisky. This collaboration reflects a shared passion for American whisky between Knowles-Carter, a lover of Japanese whisky, and Moët Hennessy, keen to deepen its presence in the U.S. market.

The whisky honors Beyoncé’s great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, a moonshiner during Prohibition, blending tradition with modernity. Crafted under the expert guidance of Dr. Bill Lumsden, SirDavis features a unique mash bill and is matured in sherry casks, creating a flavor profile that marries bold American rye with the elegance of Japanese and Scotch whiskies. SirDavis has already won multiple awards, including Best In Class at the 2023 SIP Awards. The striking bottle design, inspired by Knowles-Carter's Texas roots, symbolizes strength and luxury. SirDavis retails for $89 and is available for pre-order, with wider availability starting September 2024. 🍷
