PERSONALISED VIEWS ON D2C HAPPENINGS
Everyone has lost a lot since the pandemic. People have lost jobs, their source of income and livelihood. Colin Dougherty, an entrepreneur, lost his marketing job due to the pandemic and used it as an opportunity to launch Camskns, his business idea that he was working on, on the side.
Camskns "sells thin protective cases, or skins, for higher-end cameras, such as models of Sony, Canon and Nikon."
He uses social media platforms such as Instagram and Tik Tok to build brand awareness. Since the Tik Tok trends keep changing every now and then, it's very difficult for Camskns to identify them, publish all the creative content and then wait for the results.
Camskns consulted with his other D2C friends and brought out a new feature called "pay-in-installments" which is basically a 'buy now, pay later' option. After availing this feature, Camskns conversion rates increased by 2%.
Colin plans on broadening its product line which in turn will lead shoppers to buying a more premium product or other products, which will increase his AOV. What are your thoughts on this?
Camskns is a work in progress but is definitely getting there, just like all of us during this pandemic. His D2C brand has already reached the โfive-figure rangeโ per month, which is admirable. Hardwork is definitely leading to the brand's success.

BRAND OF THE WEEK
"Lawnbright is a subscription service that delivers customized lawn care products to subscribers".
A mix of soil and conditioners for around 6 - 8 weeks is provided to their customers for the entire growing season. They act as a host for ancillary products as well, which aids in preventing ticks, mosquitoes and crabgrass.
Their signup process basically generates a lawn plan based on their customers location and weather. The soil tests that they later conduct, provides them information on the deficiencies the soil carries, and then is altered and adjusted by a human to the needs of the customers.
D2C lawn-care is "a new category in its infancy". The best part about Lawnbright is that they provide their consumers with DIY lawn care which is really simple.
A very fascinating fact is that they have a platform which tracks the customersโ weather in real time and sends alerts on how long the sprinklers would have to run based on the projected rainfall. This is when the Lawnbright products come in handy.
