WHAT’S COOKING, HUH?

“It is a virtual reality, an online video game with an integrated game creation system developed and published by Facebook, Inc. for Microsoft Windows and Oculus Quest 2. It is currently in an invite-only beta phase.”

In Facebook Horizon, you can explore what inspires you, connect with people from all over the world and meet up for fun challenges. Anyone can dream, design, and create in Horizon.

The game may be played with an Oculus Rift (S) or Oculus Quest (2) virtual reality headset and uses full 3D motion via the motion capture system of the headset and two hand-held motion controllers, which are required to interact with objects in the game.

In Horizon, you'll be able to create an avatar that, bizarrely, won't have any legs. You can then use portals (or "telepods") to make your way to public spaces such as a town square. Horizon will offer exploration and games, along with ways to build communities through groups and events.

"Everyone will have the power to build new worlds and activities, from tropical hangout spots to interactive action arenas, all from scratch -- no previous coding experience needed”, Oculus stated.

How does a Direct To Consumer (D2C) business give you a ticket to more opportunities? Why should you sell it?

Remember a time when your parents would always say to either pursue becoming a doctor or an engineer or maybe strive for other opportunities? Has that happened to you? Have they said, “Follow your dreams“?

Your dream can be one of many. You have many opportunities lining up for you when you choose to own your own path. Developing a D2C brand from scratch requires a lot of hard work and entrepreneurship skills, to begin with.

Choosing D2C is the smart way of doing business amidst the different target groups at hand. When we speak of D2C brands, you can provide any number of products to your customers and you can extend your business on various platforms.

BRAND OF THE WEEK is…

Warby Parker was among the first direct-to-consumer brands to enter the market and act as a disruptor to the industry.

The eyewear brand was founded in 2010 by Dave Gilboa and Neil Blumenthal after the two were frustrated with how expensive and difficult it was to purchase glasses.

High marketing and advertising costs associated with acquiring customers are often a factor hindering many D2C brands from reaching profitability. To combat this, many turn to stores to serve as an alternative marketing channel.

Warby Parker on 24th August 2021 filed papers with the Securities and Exchange Commission to go public via a direct listing on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "WRBY”.

In the S-1 filing, the D2C eyewear brand revealed that in the six months ended June 30, its net revenue was $270.5 million, up 53% from the same period last year.

Warby Parker’s filing also comes as more brands pursue public offerings through means other than initial public offerings.
