AR For E-Commerce & Retail To Enhance Shopping Experience

Ready to boost your ecommerce sales and give your customers a truly immersive shopping experience? Look no further than augmented reality (AR)!

Online shoppers are more likely to make purchases on websites that offer AR technology, and for good reason – it gives them a sense of certainty about the product in a way that 2D images or descriptions just can't.

Plus, AR can bring a semi-realistic presence to online shopping, bridging the gap between traditional brick-and-mortar stores and modern ecommerce. The possibilities are endless – get ready to dive into the world of AR and see what it can do for your ecommerce business.

Ready to shake things up and give your customers an unforgettable shopping experience? Augmented reality (AR) is here to help! But how can you best put this exciting technology to use in your ecommerce business? Here are four ways to get started:

  • Previews are where it's at! Give your customers a chance to see what a product will look like in their own environment with item placement previews. This way, they can make sure that couch will fit perfectly in their living room or that fridge will look just right in their kitchen. Not only will this help customers make more informed purchase decisions, it'll also save you the hassle of dealing with returned items and negative reviews.

  • Tired of the "what I ordered vs. what I got" struggle? Virtual try-on solutions can help! With AR, you and your customers can see how an item will look and fit without having to guess or hope for the best. Just take a look in the virtual mirror and see for yourself if that textile is up to snuff or if that lipstick is the perfect shade. Sure, some brands offer home try-on options, but those can get expensive. AR is a cheaper and just as effective alternative – no wonder so many brands are using it.

  • Time to add some flair to your social media game! Whether you're snapping a selfie or chatting with friends, AR filters are here to help. From Snapchat to Instagram stories and beyond, you can toggle between all kinds of fun features to spice up your pics and vids. Make every conversation, call, and group chat a little more memorable with the right AR filters.

  • Say goodbye to boring old user manuals! With AR, you can make learning about a new product way more interactive and engaging. Just scan the product's image and let the app guide you with pointers, animations, and text. Whether you're offering maintenance services or just want to make customer communication more exciting, AR is the way to go. It's all about getting creative and making the most of this amazing technology.

Google Cloud For Retailers Now Includes AI-Based Inventory & E-Commerce Solutions

Google is adding some serious tech firepower to its Cloud for Retailers to help store owners keep their shelves stocked and shoppers happy. The new AI-based tool for shelf-checking is like having a virtual store manager, constantly checking for low inventory and alerting store owners where restocks are needed.

The tool is built on Google’s Vertex AI Vision and is powered by two machine learning models, the product recognizer and the tag organizer. These models can identify different products based on visual imaging and text features, so store owners don't have to spend time and effort training their own AI models.

The shelf-checking tool can even identify products from images taken from a variety of angles and devices, such as a ceiling-mounted camera, a mobile phone or a store robot. So, imagine a little robot roaming around the store, snapping pictures of products and sending them back to Google Cloud for Retailers to analyze and identify where restocks are needed.

But Google doesn't stop there, it's also introducing a new AI-powered browse feature in its Discovery AI service for retailers. This feature uses machine learning to select the optimal ordering of products to display on a retailer’s e-commerce site once shoppers choose a category.

The algorithm learns the ideal product ordering for each page over time based on historical data, making sure shoppers see the products they want and increasing the chances of making a sale.

Finally, Google Cloud has released a new AI-based capability for its Recommendation AI service for retailers, this will personalize the search and browsing results for customers based on their behavior on the retailer's website. The AI will move products that match the customer's preferences up in search and browse rankings, giving them the personalized result they want.

All of these capabilities are currently available for retailers globally, and Google promises not to share any retailer's imagery and data with them, so store owners can have peace of mind knowing their data is safe.
